A tailoring atelier on Usteristrasse, Zürich

Clothing made to your measure, and kept that way.

We make men’s and women’s clothing to individual measurements, from suits and evening wear to everyday pieces, and we alter, repair and recut the garments you already own.

Schneiderei, practised as an art

Schneiderei is the German word for tailoring: the craft of turning a length of cloth into a garment that fits one particular person. Our name pairs it with art, because the work needs both exact measurement and a considered eye.

At the atelier we take measurements, draft patterns, cut and sew. Nothing is chosen from a size chart. Every garment starts from the way you are built, the way you move and what you need the piece to do.

Who we make clothes for

  • Residents of Zürich who want clothing made for them rather than bought off the rail.
  • Business professionals who wear tailoring every day and need it to fit properly.
  • Anyone with a garment worth saving: a jacket that no longer sits right, a coat that needs restoring.

What the atelier makes and mends

Three kinds of work, one standard of fit.

Bespoke tailoring

Men’s and women’s garments created from the first cut to your individual measurements. Each piece is made from a pattern drafted for you alone.

  • Suits and tailored jackets
  • Evening wear
  • Casual attire

Alterations and repairs

Professional work on the clothes you already own. We adjust the fit, restore garments that are worn or damaged, and recut pieces that need a new shape rather than a small fix.

  • Fitting adjustments
  • Restoration
  • Recutting

Exclusive design

For a garment that does not exist yet. We develop the idea with you, from silhouette and cloth to the smallest details, and then make it in the atelier as a single piece.

  • Design developed with you
  • One-off pieces
  • Made in the atelier

From first conversation to final fitting

Bespoke work follows a sequence. How many fittings a garment needs depends on the piece and on you.

  1. Consultation

You tell us what the garment is for, how you want to wear it and what you like. For alterations, bring the piece with you.

  2. Measurements

We take your measurements and note your posture and how you prefer clothes to sit.

  3. Pattern and cutting

A pattern is drafted from your measurements and the cloth is cut to it.

  4. Fittings

You try the garment while it is being made, and we adjust it until the fit is right.

  5. Finishing

Final sewing, pressing and a last check before you collect your garment.
